In the summer of 2010 I visited New York City and my friend Joe took me to the building site of the World Trade Center. While we were there, we discussed my fascination with “urban structures” like cranes. I like how the simplicity of the lines against the sky create a fragile image, while at the same knowing this is an optical illusion as cranes are used to lift heavy loads. It just goes to show that you have to look close in order to discover real strength.
Since then, Joe has been mailing me pictures of the WTC building site. They are too beautiful to keep hidden, so this is my way of saying thank you to Joe and share them.
